Christianity: The Best Thing That Ever Happened to Women

Segment 1 (0:00) – A history lesson of the oppressive treatment of women in Greco-Roman and Jewish cultures.  Modern day Progressives do not understand how the influence of Christianity has improved the advancement of women.  Instead of women being inferior to men and treated as slaves, they are now valued and treated better than at any other time in history.  Christianity introduced a radical new way to look at women.

Segment 2 (8:12) – Through Jesus’ words and deeds, He instituted a radical change in how women were viewed and treated.  In a culture that saw women as doormats, Jesus broke the rabbinical rules by addressing the Samaritan woman in public.  He included women as part of His ministry and affirmed Mary’s desire to learn amidst a culture that didn’t educate women.  The first people Jesus appeared to after His resurrection were women.  Jesus elevated the value of women and set the stage as a role model for radical change through the influence of Christianity.

Segment 3 (17:00) – A history of various oppressive practices that were eventually abolished in areas where Christianity gained influence.  Jesus’ disciples wrote down His instructions on how men are to love their wives and established standards for marriage which promoted equality and set women free from oppression.  In countries today where the influence of Christianity is little or absent, women have less freedoms and are held in low esteem.  Christian ethics promote equal worth and value for men and women.
