About a decade ago, Todd called Ray Comfort.
“Ray, we need a name for the new show, and all I can think about is a slogan: ‘The wretch the song refers to.’ I want to convey that thought in the title.”
In typical Ray Comfort fashion, he said, “I’ll think about it and call you back.” That is the classic Comfort way of saying, “That is a terrible idea.”
A few minutes later, Ray called back. “Todd, I am so sorry. I wasn’t totally paying attention when you called. I thought you wanted to name the program after something a cat does when it has a furball. Retch. That was stupid of me. You should call the program, Wretched.
Thus Wretched was born. Since then Wretched has produced over 3,000 episodes of TV, thousands of hours of radio, four books, four evangelistic booklets, over thirty Biblical DVD and MP3 resources, and we are only just beginning.
But, why is “Wretched” so fitting for us?
Some would argue that the program itself is downright wretched. The host is fully aware of his wretchedness. Wretched is at the very core of the Gospel: that God would save wretches like us.
So, get in, buckle up, and hang on cause it’s going to be a wretched time.

We get this question a lot, so here are just a few reasons why we disable comments on YouTube.
One, we are right about everything, so there’s really no need for correction. 🙂
Two, sadly the YouTube environment doesn’t lend itself to productive conversations. Unfortunately, comments are the opposite of productive and are typically very toxic.
Three, it would take a full time employee policing comments and we do not think that is a wise use of our Gospel Partner’s financial support.
However, we do have comments open on Facebook, which tends to be a more productive environment for conversation.
You can also send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. We do our best to respond!
Unfortunately, we do not. Why? Because none of our employees are updated on their rabies vaccinations.
You can send your questions, comments, conundrums, snarks, articles, YouTube videos, sermons, lions, tigers, and bears to email@example.com.
