Is Sarcasm the Best Way to Persuade a Progressive Liberal?
Segment 1 (0:00) – Todd talks about watching CSPAN II and the discussion of redefining marriage. The progressive argument kicked God out of the conversation. They argued using the 14th Amendment, 2nd class citizenship, love , and the slavery/inter-racial marriage comparison.
Segment 2 (8:11) – How should the traditionalist make the argument on marriage? The traditional argument used children/procreation, implications for the future (slippery slope/religious freedom), History, States Rights, and the “Wait and see” argument. Can we, should we, use sarcasm and satire as Christians? If we expose how their arguments play out in a humorous manner it can help show the absurdity of their arguments when carried out to their logical conclusion.
Segment 3 (16:49) – What form of communication will win the day with progressives? What form of logic? possibly satire? If we fail to understand what we need to accomplish we will fail with satire, logic and reason. The issue is really about regeneration. The Bible says people who are not Christians have busted logic makers. Romans 1, 1 Cor 1-3. The first method is to argue Biblically “Thus sayeth the Lord!”
