-Episode 2581-
A Parable for the Self-Righteous
Segment 1 (00:00) Todd redirects our attention to the older son in the parable of the prodigal son, showing how the parable can actually be about him. Todd uses a sermon from Voddie Baucham to further emphasize his point. Voddie points out how the sermon was actually meant for the Pharisees to point out their self-righteousness. Todd then warns us to be careful not to raise an “older brother”.
Segment 2 (09:23) Todd and Voddie show how the older brother in the parable is just as bad as the younger brother. They explain how there are many “older brothers” in the church that have hardened their hearts to the Gospel.
Segment 3 (16:51) Todd shows a snippet from Herman Who explaining how parable can be interpreted differently. He emphasizes how if we want to understand parables or Bible verses properly we have to lose our pre-understandings.
