The Problem With Friendship Evangelism |Wretched TV Episode 2875
Friendship evangelism gives the idea that you don’t really have to preach the Gospel, but just be a good friend. A lot of times we feel like we have to wait until a friendship is established before we can respectfully share the Gospel. What we don’t realize is how dangerous this can really become, and we end up wrecking a friendship.
You don’t need to be best friends with someone in order to share the Gospel with them. Shun friendship evangelism, unless of course you are intentional about it, without waiting.
As we see in this witnessing encounter with Matthew, Todd was a complete stranger to him, but yet a friend 30 minutes later. This seems so contrary to how we usually think through formal evangelism, but is quite simple. The truth is that you don’t have to be someone’s friend before you share the gospel with them, what matters is that you become their friend while sharing the Gospel.

Todd Ask
Here at Wretched, we are a bit urgent about reaching young people with the gospel. Why? Because even those kids who grow up in evangelical churches don’t know the Gospel. So we visit campuses, to engage them, whether we’re friends or not, to share the good news of forgiveness of sins in Christ. Why do I bring that up? Because I’d like to encourage you to consider becoming a Gospel Partner. Supporting our outreaches to the campuses. Also producing programs like Road Trip to Truth, aimed at them so they can hear the truth, and be equipped to defend the faith, and they certainly hear the Gospel.
