Segment 1
John, from season one of Transformed, struggles with assurance.
Lack of assurance is the most common malady in the Church today.
Peter and his denial of Christ is a really good place to start when taking with someone with a lack of assurance.
We need to start with making sure your salvation is secure in the first place.
On going sin in your life will bring doubting and lack of assurance. Sin for the Christian is not an “if” question but a “when” question.
One of the surest signs of your salvation is your attitude about your sin. Do you hate it? Do you ever think about it?
Do you automatically think sin disqualifies you from God’s grace?
You need to spend time examining yourself.. Ask others in your church.
Segment 2
Two words that may help you overcome a besetting sin: “dog vomit”
Forgiveness is an act of the will.
Your will determines not only your actions, but also your feelings.
Sin and your participation in it is also an act of your will.
“Puss from an oozing sore.” That’s how God sees your sin.
Sin loves to lie to you. When you listen to that lie, it’s an act of your will.
CASTING CALL FOR TRANSFORMED SEASON 3
The root of John’s lack of assurance problem was a porn addiction.
John needs to start seeing porn as dog vomit.
Root #2 of John’s problem – His view of who God is and what He says about us.
Segment 3
The SBC Annual Meeting is underway.
The convention is struggling and four major issues will be addressed.
Spurgeon once said, “Satan always hates Christian fellowship.”
There are times we need to wait for additional information before we comment on issues.
We don’t want to prematurely break fellowship with people.
We don’t want to see the SBC split. Let’s be praying for and cheering for the SBC.
We have to put all of the discernment rules in practice regarding the SBC.
Segment 4
Christians are to be judgers.
Judging isn’t sinful, but when we do it with the wrong attitude and wrong intentions it’s sinning.
If you have an issue with a brother or sister – call them. You can’t interpret tone in emails or texts or social media.
Researchers at MIT say false stories reach people much faster than true stories on social media.
What are we likely to consume these days? Conflict.
“Don’t be reckless with what others count precious. None of us can deny we have often besmirched a name rather than honor it.”
