I know what the Bible has to say about depression, yet I still struggle with it. Could a biblical counselor help me, even though I already know the biblical answer?

I have a friend who struggles with extreme depression. He’s threatened to take his life on multiple occasions, and has attempted it twice. I want to be there for him, but it’s taking a toll on my mental health. At what point do I cut ties?
