NO, JESUS DID NOT CALL HER THAT

A challenging section of scripture – Matthew 15 in the account of the Syrophoenician woman. Bill Maher, culture, and more!
Wretched Radio | Air Date: March 14, 2022

Segment 1
How do Christians talk like Jesus in a culture that’s so acrimonious?

Recently Bill Maher was a guest of Ben Shapiro. Maher said “we just need to be nicer these days”

The only way you and I accomplish this is by being involved in the local church.

How do we find the correct balance in how we’re talking to one another?

From Tim Challies – We are a people who so often delight in being critical rather than encouraging.

We need people to hold our tongue accountable.

Segment 2

Bill Maher is encouraging the country to be nicer while at the same time doing the opposite.

Looking at Jesus – how would He speak today?

From Tim Challies speaking about being merciful.

There are times where we should show mercy. There are also times where we speak more direct and bold.

You and I should speak like Christ. But only when we look more like Christ.

Let your speech be season with salt. Don’t be quarrelsome. Be gentle. Be respectful. However, sometimes we see Jesus not being gentle. How do we reconcile that?

Segment 3

Can we practice what we just preached?

1 Timothy 6. We must speak the way Jesus did.

We see Jesus being severe, but we also see Him being loving and patient.

Grades PreK-3 in Florida blocked teachers from speaking to children about gender or sexuality.

Florida Democrats have condemned the bill calling it hateful.

Schools shouldn’t be teaching this stuff at any age.

How do you not get furious with this?

Segment 4

A challenging section of Scripture – Matthew 15 in the account of the Syrophoenician woman.

Some people say Jesus was being racist and even called this woman the B-word.

We see the disciples being the ones annoyed with the woman, but Jesus said “let her come.”

If Jesus were a racist or sexist, He would not have healed the woman’s daughter.

This is hermeneutics 101.

Dig into the Bible and the culture of the time and you will begin to see the Bible open up.

Jesus’ objection was not that the woman was a dog, but that His first mission was to the house of Israel.

There were people watching this. He was showing Himself to be the King.

Jesus could never and would never speak a nasty word. He would never tear someone down. That would be sin and Christ could not sin.

A reputation is a precious thing.
