Winston Churchill or the Bible?
“Do not be afraid” is the most repeated command from the bible.
Too many sermons focus on the leadership skills of Nehemiah.
But we can’t forget or miss the context of the entire Bible is Jesus.
Nehemiah Chapter 6 teaches us about fear.
Four times Nehemiah was sent a messenger to tell him he was going to be in trouble.
They (Sanballat and others) were attempting to do Nehemiah harm or at least scare him.
Consider today. You get messages today to frighten you. These messages intend for you to stop your work for Christ.
Segment 2
Nehemiah Chapter 6 has much to say about the messages we receive today.
Have you taken time to do an emotional inventory lately?
There’s nothing wrong with knowing there are enemies at the gate. But, are the threatening messages stopping our work for Christ?
Nehemiah 6 gives us clarity.
What is the MO of the Devil? He’s the father of lies. He wants to distract us from the most important thing.
We should gather together to talk about Jesus.
Maybe you haven’t gotten plugged in to Church because of your over fear?
Fear not is commanded over 300x. Fear is rooted in doubt.
Do we need to heed the lessons from Nehemiah 6?
Segment 3
Alistair Begg is inclined to quote hymns.
Music typically helps us remember things.
You and I have a tendency for “comfort” to be an idol – and we fear when we’re uncomfortable.
The hymn “I Walk in Danger All the Way”” comes to mind.
Are you serving in church as much as we should be?
How much of news media is used to distract us?
Even if God is abandoning a nation – He is not abandoning His church.
Segment 4
Fear is a big deal.
Lately, we have been the surrender-er to fear.
If you’ve been sidelined due to fear know you have a Savior that gives you a spirit of power.
Feminism shouldn’t intimidate men from tears.
Godly men can cry. Timothy cried.
Fear can cause selfish, weak character.
If we are fearful, it doesn’t come from God.
If you’re genuinely working for the Lord, you are doing important work.
Should and how do we plan for the future?
As we go, let us do it from a position of the power of Christ.
