Wretched Radio | Air Date: May 17, 2022

Segment 1

How would you help someone with OCD?

Our brand new series, Transformed will help you know how to talk with those struggling with OCD.

Tyler believes the root of his OCD is because he fears hurting someone. Is that really the root of the issue?

Dr. Dale Johnson explains how the Bible defines OCD. Dr. Greg Gifford focuses on the theology of OCD.

Dr. Gifford explains to Tyler he can never be certain with your senses, but there is something that is certain – The Word of God.

Dr. Johnson explains OCD is an idol of certainty.

Another root of OCD is a misunderstanding of the Sovereignty of God.

Segment 2

Does biblical counseling actually help someone who is an addict?

Let’s meet Robin, who participated in Transformed.

Dr. Dale Johnson explains how we should use biblical language to describe addiction.

Dr. Gifford meets Robin and shares the biggest problem with alcohol isn’t using alcohol, but rather replacing God with alcohol.

Segment 3

Live by faith, not by feelings.

While you may feel forsaken, look to the cross. Jesus was forsaken for you.

Have an eternal perspective. Realize what you’re going through is light in comparison to the sufferings of Jesus.

There is a reason for your suffering. There is no purposeless suffering.

  • Preach the Gospel to your self daily.
  • Avoid excessive self-examination.
  • Ask God what He’s trying to teach you.
  • Read books on the attributes of God.
  • Make a blessings list.
  • Serve others.
  • Get help.
  • Avoid drugs and alcohol.

Segment 4

Tim Challies lost his son a year ago and has been blogging about his experience through the last year.

His latest was addressed to his son on his 21st birthday.

“It’s clear the man you were in private matched the man you were in public”

“You’d be so proud of mom”

“What choice do I have but to carry this burden?”
