The report says the majority of leaders in the SBC did not handle the claims properly.
Pastors would get sent to other churches after allegations as opposed to being reprimanded.
How the SBC votes on CRT and these sexual abuse claims will be very telling.
Make sure to hear both sides of the story, before you start being suspicious of your own pastor.
Elders/Deacons should make safeguards for their own pastor and Godly pastors shouldn’t have any issue with it.
Segment 2
God has instituted certain authorities: government, church, and family to hold people accountable.
Women and children are being scarred for life; it is our responsibility to protect them.
NBC News: SBC officials stonewalled and refused to listen to allegations, because they “didn’t have authority over the local church.”
If an allegation is false, there’s still a sin issue: a false testimony. We can’t put the interest of the SBC over the interests of people.
Segment 3
Sexual abuse is a crime. The government is allowed to enter the church on this matter, because criminal allegations are within the government’s realm of jurisdiction.
The biblical way to approach allegations is to take them seriously and investigate, before you come to a conclusion either way.
SBC should create a sort of “Sex Offender” registry. Even if an allegation is concluded to be false, it should still go on the registry.

When the law gets involved, confidentiality should be removed, because someone has been hurt.

It shouldn’t have taken as long as it has for the government to get involved.
By making maneuvers to protect the church’s reputation, you hurt the reputation of the church even more.
A 14 year old girl who was regularly abused by her pastor, got pregnant, and had to apologize to the congregation without naming the father. The pastor was moved to another SBC church.
