WHO GETS TO TAKE COMMUNION?

It’s Mailbag Friday! Can my child take communion?

Wretched Radio | Air Date: February 02, 2024

It’s Mailbag Friday! You have questions. We have answers.

If you have any questions, comments, conundrums, snarks, or ideas send them to [email protected].

Segment 1

I have a 10 year old boy who has taken interest in partaking in communion. We have discussed in detail the purpose and meaning behind it. My question. If a child is considered to be still in the age (mental capacity) of innocence do you think he can fully understand the purpose behind communion? -Steve

If I’m a believer and I’m not a member of a church, what does that mean for me? Can I take communion, am I serving God how I should? -Jesse

Segment 2

Are people in churches like a 7th day adventist church saved? If not, how much of our ministry should be devoted to them? -Phil

My church recently recognized and received a pastor for the women’s ministry. This is an assistant pastor over only this ministry. She is a female. Does this female pastor (overseer) fit our biblical description of pastor in 1 Timothy 3? -Zach

Segment 3

What are some practical things I can have my family, especially my 7 year old daughter, do that can teach her how to serve the church and love those outside the church? -Brad

I watch a lot of sermons by Paul Washer, Ray Comfort, and Steven Lawson. They really kick me into high gear evangelism. But now I get very nervous that I have to witness to every single person I see, everywhere I go and I feel guilty when I don’t get to witness. How can I tell when and how often to evangelize and when not to? -Lopez

Is it better to have a President who puts some limits on abortion, like at 15 or 6 weeks, rather than having a President who fully supports abortion through birth? -Scott

Segment 4

What should we think about a Pastor who repeats sermons after only being in the Church for about 5 years? He’s been preaching for over 20 years? I mean I have the same sermon notes in my bible, and you can even look up on YouTube and almost see a word-for-word of the same sermons being reused. -Anonymous

As a new parent, my wife and I have been faithful to our local church despite changes, including a pastor change. With concerns like not doing the Lord’s table weekly, adding videos during worship, allowing coffee in the sanctuary, the new pastor not being as insightful, and a shift towards contemporary worship music, I’m worried about presenting a casual approach to worship to my son. How can I instill a high view of church in him? -Anonymous

Our church recently announced a rebrand, unveiling a new logo and merchandise during a sermon. I trust my pastor, but using a sermon for this announcement seems somewhat off to me. Am I overreacting, or is there a biblical perspective on this matter? -Joseph
